The Vision
The remodel was driven by a clear vision: create a home that could comfortably support both everyday life and future growth. The original house already offered a generous footprint, including four bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, and a basement area. However, the layout did not fully maximize the potential of these spaces.
One of the primary goals was improving how the home accommodated family life. The homeowners wanted a design that provided both shared gathering spaces and private areas where family members or guests could retreat.
The updated layout includes four bedrooms, updated primary suite, and three-and-a-half bathrooms, creating flexibility for both immediate and long-term needs. The basement was redesigned to function as a dedicated guest area, offering privacy and separation from the main bedroom level.
While the remodel introduced significant updates to the interior layout, the homeowners were equally committed to preserving the elements that gave the house its unique identity. Natural light was a defining characteristic of the home, and maintaining the windows and the brightness that came from them became a central design priority.
Large windows and open sightlines were preserved wherever possible, allowing daylight to continue flowing throughout the interior. Similarly, several original architectural materials — including siding and cedar ceiling details — were carefully maintained as part of the renovation. These elements add warmth and texture to the home while grounding the updated design in its original character.
By blending preservation with modernization, the remodel ensures the home feels both refreshed and authentic.

Kitchen
In many homes, the kitchen serves as the heart of daily activity, and that was especially true in this remodel. The homeowners wanted a kitchen that could support everything from casual family meals to entertaining guests.
The redesigned kitchen emphasizes openness, functionality, and connection to the surrounding living areas. Improved circulation and thoughtful appliance placement make cooking and hosting easier, while generous counter space provides room for both meal preparation and social interaction.
Cabinetry was selected to provide ample storage without overwhelming the space visually. Clean lines and carefully integrated hardware help the kitchen feel modern while maintaining a timeless aesthetic.
Natural light remains a defining feature of the room, reinforcing the homeowners’ desire to keep the house bright and welcoming. Windows and open sightlines ensure that the kitchen feels connected to the outdoors as well as to adjacent living spaces.
The result is a kitchen that supports the rhythm of family life — a place where meals are prepared, conversations unfold, and the household naturally gathers.
Bathrooms
The remodel also included significant updates to the home’s bathrooms, ensuring they function comfortably for both family members and visiting guests.
With three-and-a-half bathrooms distributed throughout the house, each space was designed to provide a balance of durability and comfort. Updated fixtures, improved layouts, and refined finishes help create bathrooms that feel modern and easy to maintain.
In the guest areas, bathrooms were designed with accessibility and practicality in mind. Durable materials and thoughtful layouts ensure the spaces remain welcoming while supporting daily use.
Together, the bathroom updates contribute to a cohesive design language throughout the home while enhancing comfort and functionality.

Living Space and Ceiling Details
Beyond the kitchen and bathrooms, the remodel focused on improving the overall flow of the home’s shared living spaces.
The living areas were redesigned to encourage connection while still offering flexibility. Open sightlines allow family members to move easily between rooms, while carefully arranged seating areas create comfortable places to relax or entertain.
Preserving the home’s cedar ceiling details was an important part of maintaining its character. The natural wood adds warmth and visual texture, helping the updated spaces feel grounded and inviting.
These architectural elements work in harmony with the updated layout, ensuring that the home’s original personality remains intact while the spaces themselves feel refreshed and modern.
The basement guest area further expands the home’s versatility. By creating a dedicated space for visitors, the homeowners can host friends and family while maintaining privacy in the main living areas.
Why Armada?
For this project, the homeowners were looking for a contractor who could understand their vision while providing clear leadership throughout the renovation process.
During the initial walkthrough of the home, they met Alex from the Armada team. The conversation quickly established a sense of trust and confidence. The homeowners appreciated the straightforward approach and felt that their ideas were understood from the very beginning.
Another factor that contributed to their decision was a recommendation from their architect, who connected them with Armada based on the firm’s reputation for managing complex residential projects. Although the architect typically works on commercial buildings, they believed Armada’s design-build capabilities would be a strong fit for this renovation.
That recommendation, combined with the positive initial meeting, helped the homeowners feel confident moving forward.
